  • At Harney & Co IFA we aim to provide efficient and effective solutions, tailored to your specific needs. We believe that it is essential to explain issues in a straightforward and understandable way so that our clients are comfortable and confident with all aspects of their planning needs not just now, but also in the future.

We are directly authorised to provide independent financial planning, covering Savings, Investments, Pensions, Retirement Plans, Personal Protection and Tax Planning. Our two advisers are both fully qualified with DipPFS status from the Chartered Insurance Institute and The Professional Finance Society.

As independent advisers we provide advice on products from the Whole of Market. This means we are not tied to any specific companies or their products, and believe that as a result we can achieve suitable planning strategies for all types of client no matter the size of their budget.

We offer a free initial meeting to identify your needs and objectives, during which we will offer some initial thoughts. We will then undertake a full review of your current circumstances before providing comprehensive advice.

  • With the ever changing legislation and freedoms now available, we believe that there's a greater need for advice than ever before. However, many are failing to seek pensions advice, often due to fears of what it might cost. We offer pension and retirement advice that shows clear value for money, in an open and honest way.

At Harney & Co IFA, we are authorised to provide advice on all types of pensions, including Personal Pensions, SIPP's, Group Pensions and highly regulated Defined Benefit Pension transfers. We select products from the Whole of Market and as such consider all available providers and products.

Our approach to pension and retirement planning is to provide simple, effective and well understood advice, ensuring that our clients feel confident that their future finances are being looked after and properly managed.

Pensions offer excellent opportunities for both personal and corporate tax planning, taking advantage of the associated tax relief's. Pensions can also be an efficient inheritance tax or succession planning tool.

It is never too early or too late to consider your pension options, or to start making a provision for retirement, so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your options.

  • With the current low level of interest rates savers are looking to achieve potentially better returns on their money.

At Harney & Co IFA we offer advice on Savings, General Investment Accounts, Investment Bonds, Cash or Investment ISA's and other UK regulated investment products such as Unit Trusts, Open-Ended Investment Companies (OEIC's) and managed funds. We can also provide advice on offshore investment products where appropriate. We select products from the Whole of Market and as such are able to consider all providers and products.

We will ensure that all advice we give is the most tax efficient for your circumstances and will strive to review your circumstances to maintain effective investment management and performance.

As with any investment it is important to understand that the value can go down as well as up and therefore you may get back less that invested.

If you would like us to review any of your existing investments, or would like to discuss making an investment, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • It is important to consider the financial impact on your family if either the main income provider, or equally the homemaker, were suddenly unable to support them.

At Harney & Co IFA we are authorised to offer advice on Life Cover, Income Protection, Critical Illness Cover, and all the other personal protection from the Whole of Market. This means that we consider all of the available products, as appropriate for your circumstances, from all of the available providers.

Personal protection does not only apply to individuals with families but also to directors of companies or key people within a business, where the company could be adversely affected by their absence.

As with most products you tend to get what you pay for, and Personal protection is no exception. That said it is not always apparent what you are getting with protection policies. In particular, the pay-out terms on Critical Illness and Income Protection plans can vary significantly, so selecting a product that offers the required level of benefit can be as important as finding the most affordable solution.

If you would like to talk to an adviser to ensure you are getting the best deal for your required level of cover then please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Inheritance tax planning is increasingly important with the current high level of house prices. However, with the complexities of estate planning and the relevant tax rules it is important to consider its effects well in advance so effective advice can be implemented.

Inheritance tax can be mitigated with the effective use of relevant allowances, gifs into trust, investments and life cover. In some circumstances, efficient inheritance tax planning can also provide opportunities to make an individual's income more tax efficient, as well as protecting the assets that can pass to your beneficiaries.

If you would like to discuss inheritance tax planning, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • The law on workplace pensions has changed such that every employer in the UK must enrol all eligible staff into a pension scheme and contribute towards it. This is called 'automatic enrolment'.

Harney & Co IFA, are authorised to provide advice, recommendations and assistance with the set up and ongoing management of Auto-Enrolment pension schemes. There are many providers offering Auto-enrolment compliant pension schemes, including, NEST, People's Pension, Now Pensions and many others.

The compliance rules for Auto-Enrolment are strict and if you do not comply you could receive a fine of up to £10,000. Do not underestimate the time that it can take to get a scheme set up and have all of the relevant information uploaded in time for your staging date.

So whether you’re a beautician, an accountant or employ a personal care assistant, if you employ at least one person you are an employer, and therefore you have certain legal duties. If you would like to discuss your Auto-enrolment options and duties please contact us.
